Marvellous Music Monday's !!

Well I have my Fantastic Fabric Fridays.....so why not Marvellous Music Monday's too???

~~~First I'll start with a Blast from the past !!~~~~
Kate Bush !!!
There is no other recording artist in the world today quite like Kate Bush. In the course of her twenty-seven year career, since her dramatic arrival at nineteen years of age in 1978 with the hauntingly beautiful and instantly classic ‘Wuthering Heights’, Bush has built a reputation that remains unrivalled in terms of musical ambition, pioneering sonics, stirring emotional content and sheer originality. The fact that the world waited for the release of her eighth album, ‘Aerial’, for more than a decade has, if anything, only added to the air of mystique surrounding her.
~~~and now for some Current Cool!!~~~

Lissie !!!
Lissie Maurus was raised in the riverside town of Rock Island, IL, and she drew upon those blue-collar Midwestern origins to create her own form of indie folk music. After dropping out of high school during her senior year, Lissie headed west and eventually settled in Los Angeles, where she became a fixture on the coffeehouse circuit and landed a national tour opening for Lenny Kravitz. A self-titled EP appeared in 2007, but things truly began picking up speed in 2009, when Lissie released a second EP, the dusky Why You Runnin', and toured the country alongside Ray LaMontagne.

Larkin about !! ~~Hull~~

Philip Larkin - Toads

Why should I let the toad work
Squat on my life?
Can't I use my wit as a pitchfork
And drive the brute off?

Six days of the week it soils
With its sickening poison -
Just for paying a few bills!
That's out of proportion.

Lots of folk live on their wits:
Lecturers, lispers,
Losels, loblolly-men, louts-
They don't end as paupers;

Lots of folk live up lanes
With fires in a bucket,
Eat windfalls and tinned sardines-
they seem to like it.

Their nippers have got bare feet,
Their unspeakable wives
Are skinny as whippets - and yet
No one actually starves.

Ah, were I courageous enough
To shout Stuff your pension!
But I know, all too well, that's the stuff
That dreams are made on:

For something sufficiently toad-like
Squats in me, too;
Its hunkers are heavy as hard luck,
And cold as snow,

And will never allow me to blarney
My way of getting
The fame and the girl and the money
All at one sitting.

I don't say, one bodies the other
One's spiritual truth;
But I do say it's hard to lose either,
When you have both.

What a fab poem?! ..... to me its all about the daily grind and musing about those whom throw caution to the wind and live unconventional and far more exciting lives.

I live in a Hull which is a city in the north east of England. Recently Hull has launched a city wide artistic exhibition to commemorate the great works of Phillip Larkin. Bellow is a few picks of the 25 Toads that have been scattered throughout the city.

If you ever find yourself in Hull ask at the Tourist information office for a Larkin's Toad trail map and enjoy the cute amphibians yourself.

Let's have a bash at an allotment ......!?

Well after being on the council waiting list for 2 whole years!!!
 last month we were FINALLY given a plot at our local allotment site!!
Yipppppeeeeeee........!!!
we are the proud renters or plot number 4 !!

Yes rather big and overgrown but I accept the challenge !!

Collecting pallets for our composter!

and we even found a little surprise hiding between the weeds.....how cute?!!

The first dig.

The ground it soooooo hard and dry I find myself praying for rain for the first time in my life !!!

My composter is complete and tied together with string by my very own hands yippeeee!

Isn't it cute??

and a couple of chairs for a well earned rest.

These pic's were taken a couple of weeks ago when I was first getting started. I have since made a little more progress. Although it's late in the season in our British weather to start planting much I have had a bash with:
Carrots
Lettuce
Dwarf peas
Radish
Beetroot.

More pics of my progress to follow!
